WHO DO YOU SAY THAT I AM?

A frustrated young girl was on her way to commit suicide because of the frustrated life she had lived. As she walked down the lonely street of New York, she was distracted by a beam of light around the corner. She followed the light like someone that was hypnotised and left her initial route. The light led her to a church. She stood in front of the church building, just staring. She was about to leave but got attracted by a written on the wall. She moved closer to read it. It was a verse of the bible, a famous one at that. John 3:16  ''For God so love the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal LIFE''. The scripture captured her attention and urged her more to go inside the church.
When she got inside, there was nobody expect for empty chairs. She decided to seat in one of them closer to the alter. As she stayed there, she began to ponder on the writing on the wall. She didn't understand what it meant. She wanted to know who this ''God'' was and why he loved the world.
Lost in thought, she felt a gentle tap on her back, she suddenly got up with her already raised up. She turned back only to see an old man holding a bible and smiling at her. He didn't ask her why she was there, but rather gave her the bible he was holding and sat with her. They both looked at the alter together. She turned to the man and asked him to explain the writing on the wall. He smiled and told her the story of an all powerful king who ruled many kingdoms. He was a great ruler, and a Just one at that. But he was sad because day after day, time after time, the people he loved and could do anything for did not love him back and were always betraying him and out of his anger, he kept on punishing them. It was too much that he started feeling terribly bad and so called a meeting among the council elders. He asked if any one of them would volunteer to go down to the villages and pretend to be an ordinary person, so as to convince the people to turn good. They all looked at each other and then to him with an expression telling him that they couldn't. Still in the middle of the conversation, the king's young son came into their mist and volunteered to go. The king was shocked and sad, he allowed his son to go into the midst of the people, disguising himself as one of them. He son suffered the treatment of a foreigner among the people and got several persecutions for trying to convince the people. He cared less of what he went through as he had only one goal in mind, ''SAVE THE PEOPLE''. After much suffering, he was successful and went back to his father. The father was proud of his son and happy that the people had changed.
The man explained more saying that God loves us so well and Jesus loves so well that they were able to sacrifice anything for us. Jesus was willingly to deny royalty for us. He told her that Jesus loved her so well and has prepared an amazing future for her. That she didn't have to take her life. As the young girl heard all this, she burst into tears. She fell at the man's feet and cried so loud. He then asked her a question '' WHO DO YOU SAY THAT I AM''.
All of a sudden, she didn't see the man anymore and was so shocked. At the same time, she didn't run away from the church. She cried so hard that her body temperature rose. She opened her bag pack, brought out the rope she was going to use to hang herself and threw it away. She calmed down and pondered on the question the man asked her. Later, she came to a conclusion that God is the essence of living and that without him, there would be no Joy. She prayed to him and declared openly that she loved him. Immediately, she felt this calm.
The story of this one girl is just one of different stories in the world. Let us ponder on the question that the man asked the young girl. '' WHO DO WE SAY THAT HE IS''. Many people have different answers to this question based on individual conviction. I believe this question needs a genuine answer from all of us. We may not have being born in the time of Jesus, but we have heard of the amazing things he did. How many of us can go through what he went through? My answer is NOBODY. He loves us, but the painful thing is we don't appreciate it.
I want to urge us to appreciate everything Jesus did, because when we do , we find the joy that we thought we never had.
Albert Einstein said there are two ways to live our life, it's either we live it as it was an everyday miracle or we lived it as if it wasn't. How do you choose to live yours?

DEEP BREATH part 1

The sound of the gunshots woke me up from sleep. I heard little children screaming outside. I quickly put on a black t-shirt and a short lemon nicker. I ran outside and saw a death pool of catholic sisters and some children, blood flooded the whole environment. I ran to where the other children were and I saw them crying with blood stained hands and clothes. Tears filled my eyes but I couldn't cry because I knew it wasn't the time for emotions. I closed the door of the room where they were hiding and told them to keep shut. All of a sudden, the whole place became really quiet, then I could hear their voices. I peeped through a small hole in the door and saw them with guns, cutlass and all sorts of arms. They walked through the dead bodies and made sure no one was alive by shooting them twice. There was no conscience in their eyes. There was no pity. At some point, I asked myself if they were humans, because I knew every human being ...
